On 16 March 2017, Alkarama submitted its shadow report* on the use of torture in Lebanon to the United Nations Committee against Torture (CAT), in view of the country's first review by the Committee during its 60th session.

On 20 March 2017, Alkarama submitted its shadow report to the Committee against Torture (CAT) ahead of Bahrain’s second periodic review aimed at examining Bahrain’s implementation of the Convention Against Torture (UNCAT).

On 22 March 2017, Alkarama solicited the urgent intervention of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders, Michel Forst, (SRHRD) regarding the case of Ahmed Mansoor, prominent Emirati human rights defender, who was arrested at around 3 am on 20 March from his home in Ajman by security forces.

On 16 March 2017, Alkarama and the Arab Coalition for Sudan (ACS) sent an urgent appeal to the United Nations Working Group on Enforced Disappearance (WGEID) concerning the case of Hafiz Idress Eldouma Abdelgadir, a human rights activist advocating for the rights of Internally Displaced Persons in Sudan.

On 20 March 2017, Alkarama sent an urgent appeal to the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID) concerning Mohamed Mohamed Al Morsy Al Sayad, a 55-year-old Egyptian teacher who was abducted on 13 March 2017 at home by members of the Police Forces and National Security.

On 16 March 2017, Alkarama sent a communication to the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID) regarding the cases of Issa Adel Issa Kaal and Ali Suleiman Masood Abdel Sayed, two Libyan citizens who were abducted respectively in May and August 2016, and remain missing since. Their families, who have tried to inquire about their fate and whereabouts are extremely concerned as the authorities continue to deny their detentions.

On 17 March 2017, Alkarama and the Arab Coalition for Sudan (ACS) sent an urgent appeal to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression (SRFRDX) concerning the arbitrary detention of Mohamed Al Amin Omar Moussa, a member of the opposition who was arrested by members of the Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Serv

On 3 March 2017, Imad Abou Rizk was released from the premises of Palestinian Authority’s Military Intelligence prison in Aqabat Jaber, Jericho, after four months of arbitrary detention.

13 March 2017, Alkarama sent an urgent appeal to the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID) concerning Dr Ahmed Shawky Abdelsatar Amasha, a 56-year-old Egyptian human rights activist who was arrested on 10 March 2017 at a police checkpoint in Nasr City, in Cairo.

The 117-page document reviews the human rights situation in 20 countries, highlighting the most pressing issues and formulating recommendations.
