Alkarama and the Djiboutian League for Human Rights (LDDH) deplore the decision of the Tribunal of Djibouti City, which sentenced, on 4 October 2015, Abdoulkarim Djama Guedi, Hamze Reyeh Hassan, Yahye Elmi Younis, Ibrahim Hassan Abdi and Said Ali Miguil to a conditional one year prison sentence for an alleged "illegal demonstration".

On 5 October 2015, Alkarama sent an urgent action to the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID) regarding the arrest and subsequent disappearance, on 13 September 2015, of two young brothers, Anas and Azzam Magdy Abdelfattah Mahmoud Allam, by the Homeland Security and the General Investigations Department.

On 5 October 2015, Alkarama sent an urgent appeal to the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID) regarding the case of Syrian activist Bassel Khartabil, who disappeared after his transfer from Adra Prison on 3 October 2015.

Detention and Disappearance

On 5 October 2015, Alkarama sent an urgent appeal to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders (HRD), Michel Forst, calling on him to intervene in the case of journalist and human rights defender, Hassan Bouras, arrested without judicial warrant in early October 2015 and currently detained in El Bayadh prison.

On 21 September 2015, Alkarama transmitted its submission to the Stakeholder's Summary in view of the Sudan's second Universal Periodic Review (UPR) by the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) which is expected to be held during its 25th Session in April-May 2016.

On 29 July 2015, human rights activist Amer Jubran was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the State Security Court following an unfair trial during which confessions extracted under torture were admitted as evidence. In view of this decision, Amer appealed to the Cassation Court, which has not considered his case yet.

On 25 September 2015, Alkarama submitted its shadow report to the UN Human Rights Committee (HRCTee) in view of its fifth review of the country during its upcoming 115th session on 26-27 October 2015.

On 24 September 2015, Alkarama sent an urgent appeal to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment (SRT) regarding the arrest of 32-year-old freelance journalist Hassan Mahmoud Ragab El Kabany in January 2015.

Alkarama and the Djiboutian Human Rights League (LDDH) reiterate their 22 September call on the Djiboutian authorities to release opposition members arrested by the police on 18 September 2015, during a peaceful demonstration in the southwestern city of Dikhil.

On 16 September 2015, Alkarama and the Arab Coalition for Sudan (ACS) sent an urgent appeal to the United Nations Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID) regarding the abduction of member of the Arab Socialist Ba'ath Party, Babacar Moussa Issa, by the National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) on 27 August 2015. Secretly detained by the NISS, Babacar would have been repeatedly subjected to torture since his arrest.
