Alkarama, along with 21 human rights organizations, has called for urgent action to safeguard the future of children in Yemen. They highlighted the critical issues children face, including violence, forced recruitment, sexual abuse, and deprivation of humanitarian aid.

In a statement marking World Children’s Day on November 20, the organizations emphasized that thousands of children have fallen victim to over a decade of war, compounded by severe violations of their rights.

Today, as the world marks the "International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists," Yemeni journalists face a dire situation, enduring violence, intimidation, and killings due to their expressions and opinions. The impunity enjoyed by perpetrators further exacerbates these violations. We, the undersigned organizations, call on the international community to focus on the escalating violations against journalists in Yemen and to take concrete actions to protect them.

Alkarama expresses its profound disappointment at the failure of the negotiations on victims of abduction and forced disappearance in Yemen, held in the Omani capital, Muscat, under the auspices of the United Nations. Among the disappeared is the politician Mohammed Qahtan, abducted from his home in Sanaa nine years ago.

Yemen
Our concerns
  • Gross violations of international humanitarian and human rights law by all parties to the conflict, including foreign actors;
  • Unprecedented humanitarian crisis, aggravated by the blockade imposed by the Saudi coalition and by the restrictions and diversion of humanitarian aid by the Houthi forces;
  • Continued, systematic and widespread practice of arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and torture by all parties;
  • Impunity of perpetrators of human rights violations, war crimes and crimes against humanity.
