Alkarama has been informed that Jamal Al-Badawi's health has gradually been deteriorating during the course of his open hunger strike in the State Security prison in Sanaa. The strike, which began 21 days ago, is in protest of the authorities reneging on their promises to release him.

On 26 August 2010, Alkarama's representative in Yemen participated in a peaceful sit-in protest in front of the Attorney General's office in the capital Sana'a.
Mr Sadman Hossain was arrested on 14 February 2010 and disappeared for 6 months before being sent back to his country of origin, Bangladesh, on 12 August 2010. He testifies that in addition to being mistreated, he was detained secretly and in total isolation in an underground cell.

Ameen Hamoud Al-Hossaini was arrested at his office on 18 April 2010. Police officers later held him incommunicado for several days at Sana'a's Political Security prison before being transferred to Sana'a's Central prison.

Alkarama sent Ameen Al-Hossaini's case to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD), requesting their intervention with the Yemeni authorities in order that he be immediately released and subsequently compensated.

On 11 January 2010 plainclothes Yemeni security agents in Ta'izz arrested Ammar Attayiar and held him at their premises, before transferring him to the criminal investigation's detention center, where he was held incommunicado and severely tortured. He was intended to be released on bail on 4 April 2010, however he has been kept in prison in despite a court decision for his release.
Abdelhamid Al-Jaishi, 20, was arrested by several plainclothes Political Security forces at his home on 13 December 2009 at 3pm, and later taken to unknown location. At the time of his arrest, he was never presented with a judicial warrant nor was he informed of the reasons for his arrest.

Alkarama submitted his case to the Working Group on Enforced Disappearances on 14 June 2010, requesting its intervention with the Yemeni authorities, in order that Abdelhamid Al-Jaishi either be released or put under the authority provided by the law.

Mustafa and Ashraf Eid Namer Al-Haddad, 9 and 14 years-old respectively, were arrested along with their father on 2 June 2010 and later released on 9 June 2010.
Omar Eid Namer Al-Haddad and his two sons Mustafa and Ashraf, 9 and 14 years-old respectively, were arrested at midnight at their home on 2 June 2010 by officers of the National Security services and later taken to an unknown destination. They are currently detained at the counterterrorism services' detention center. They were able to receive a family visit, who noticed that they had been mistreated and beaten.
Ibrahim Al-Nawar, Moad Al-Qadasi and Nawfal Al-Saffi have all been arrested by Political Security forces under the pretext of fight against terrorism, and have since been illegally detained for several months without trial.

On 28 May 2010, Alkarama sent their case to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, requesting its intervention with the Yemeni authorities, in order that the detainees be put on trial or released.
