Alkarama for Human Rights sent a communication to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) asking it to intervene in the case of Mr. Saleh Al Hweiti, engaged poet, arbitrarily detained since October 27, 2004.

Mr. Saleh Awad Saleh AL HWEITI was born in Riyadh in 1946. His father, former soldier who died in 1978, belongs to the vast nomadic Arab tribe of Anza from the Arabian peninsula that used to wander also in southern Jordan. He was stripped of his nationality in 1969 as part of his family was established in the desert of Jordan.

Alkarama sent a communication to the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) asking it to intervene urgently with the Saudi authorities in the case of Mr. Abdulrahim Al-Murbati, Bahraini citizen, detained without due process of law since August 22, 2003 in Saudi Arabia and whose family has receiving no news about him since June 06, 2008.

Mr. Abdulrahim Ali Abdellah AL-MURBATI was born on December 28, 1960 in Bahrain, he is a merchant and his family lives in Bahrain.

Alkarama renewed its action towards the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention on May 24, 2008 in the case of Mr. Tallal Al Majed, Saudi national, arrested on June 20, 2002 in Qatar and deported to Saudi Arabia where he is since then detained arbitrarily.
Alkarama had sent an urgent communication to the Working Group on May 8, 2006, another one to the Special Rapporteur on Torture on November 17, 2006 and a third to the High Commissioner for Human Rights on March 5, 2007.

Alkarama asked, on May 8, 2008, the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention to intervene in the case of Mr. Samara, arbitrarily detained since July 17, 2007.
Mr. Marwan Abdel Rahman Ahmad SAMARA, Palestinian citizen, was born in 1984 and lives in Riyadh. He is married and father of a baby girl.

Alkarama just learned that Fouad Al Farhan, who was arrested on December 10, 2007 and held incommunicado for nearly a month, was released on 26 April 2008.
Alkarama had alerted on 14 January 2008 Ms. Louise Arbour, High Commissioner for Human Rights, asking her to intervene with the Saudi authorities and had as well seized on 29 February 2008 the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention .
