Yemen: Release of Mr. Adel Al Shahrani

Alkarama has learned that Mr. Adel Yahia Yahia Al Shahrani was released on May 27, 2008. He was arrested and held incommunicado by the intelligence services (Al Amn Assiyassi) in Sanaa since August 15, 2007 and has not been the subject of any legal procedure.

Alkarama sent a communication to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention on May 19, 2008, asking it to intervene with the Yemeni authorities.

Saudi Arabia: Arbitrary detention of Tallal Al Majed for nearly 6 years

Alkarama renewed its action towards the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention on May 24, 2008 in the case of Mr. Tallal Al Majed, Saudi national, arrested on June 20, 2002 in Qatar and deported to Saudi Arabia where he is since then detained arbitrarily.
Alkarama had sent an urgent communication to the Working Group on May 8, 2006, another one to the Special Rapporteur on Torture on November 17, 2006 and a third to the High Commissioner for Human Rights on March 5, 2007.

Alkarama sent on May 19, 2008 a communication to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention asking it to intervene in the case of Mr. Yahia Al-Shahrani, who was arrested and detained since August 15, 2007, without legal procedure, by the intelligence services (Al Amn Assiyassi) in Sanaa.
Mr. Adel Yahia Yahia AL-SHAHRANI was born in 1971 and lives in Sanaa. A graduate of the Faculty of Education Sana'a, he taught for several years before exercising the profession of a taxi driver.

Yemen: arrest and secret detention of Abdeladhim Al Hattar

Alkarama wrote on May 9, 2008 to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention communication, asking it to intervene in the case of Mr. Al Hattar arrested on December 14, 2007 and held incommunicado for three months.
Mr. Abdeljalil Abdeladhim Ali AL-HATTAR was born in 1982 and lives in Sanaa where he holds the "Imam Al-Haramayn" position in the City of Al-Asbahi in the same city.
