Al-Karama learned that five Syrian nationals arrested on 3 and 4 January 2006 by the Directorate General of Internal Security Forces will be tried and probably convicted today, 24 April 2009. It is feared that they will be deported to Syria where they risk torture and enforced disappearance.

Al-Karama questioned the Lebanese authorities on 3 April 2009 in letters sent to Said Merza, the Prosecutor-General; Dr. Ibrahim Najjar, the Minister of Interior; Mr.

Three Al-Abbaba brothers were arrested on 19 July 2007 by agents of the political police (Amn Al-Assiyassi) and were held for the first two months in solitary confinement at their premises. They have been imprisoned without trial.

On 7 April 2009 Al-Karama sent a communication to the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, asking it to intervene with the Yemeni authorities in cases of: 

- Mr. Amir Abdallah Thabet Mohsen Al-Abbab, 31, employee 

Alkarama was informed of opinion 31/2008 issued by the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention in  November 2008, which described the detention of Abdel Rahman Samara as arbitrary.
Dr. Al-Basher, professor at the University of Riyadh, where he resides, has been detained incommunicado since 15 March 2007. For two years, other than a single visit, his family knows nothing of his future. Al-Karama sent on 14 April 2009 an urgent appeal to the Rapporteur on torture and requested the Working Group on arbitrary detention, asking them to intervene with Saudi authorities.

Al-Karama and other Human Rights organizations have sent a letter to American Secretary of State Hillary Clinton regarding the current detention of Naji Hamdan in the UAE. The case is of great concern to the international human rights community.
At 3:45 am on 23 February 2009, agents of the political police arrested Kassem Ali Kassem Al-Ghoul and his two sons Mohamed and Ibrahim at their home, injuring Mohamed. The authorities continue to deny the arrest and disappearance of these three people despite several requests for information.

Al-Karama sent an urgent appeal to the Working Group on Enforced Disappearances, asking it to intervene with the Yemeni authorities.

Al-Karama has been informed that when Khaled Al-Rashed, a member of the so-called "reformers", appealed his prison sentence, it was immediately tripled. He was arrested in 2006 and sentenced to 5 years' imprisonment in a trial held behind closed doors.

He appealed this decision at the Hay'at Al-Tamyz court, which was acting as a court of appeal in this case.

Al-Karama recently received the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention's opinion 37/2008 dated 21 November 2008 regarding the arrest and detention of Dr.
The Working Group on Arbitrary Detention has just informed Al-Karama of opinion 40/2008 of 24 November 2008, which establishes that Al-Hattar has been arbitrarily detained.
During the Israeli military aggression on the Gaza Strip between 27 December 2008 and 18 January 2009, called "Operation Cast Lead", 1417 Palestinians were killed, of which 926 were civilians, according to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights.

On 6 January 2009, the family home of Hussein Deeb, where many civilians had taken refuge, was hit by Israeli shells. 14 family members were hit, of which 11 died.
