Tunisia: Human Rights Committee dissatisfied with government's reply

In the follow-up to the recommendations of the Human Rights Committee's periodic review of Tunisia, the government submitted, in March 2009, a reply to four of the recommendations. The Committee then wrote a follow-up letter in which it stated that such information was insufficient.

In the context of the follow-up session, Alkarama made a submission regarding the following recommendations: Recommendation 11(a): "relating to the fact that allegations of torture should be investigated and prosecuted"; Recommendation 20: "relating to measures that should be taken by the State to end the intimidation and harassment of human rights defenders, and to respect and protect the peaceful activities of organizations defending human rights."
